The Weather Channel
Currently a Solution Engineer, doing product monitoring of the broadcast system Weather Stars, TV, radio, and the Internet. If a problem arises, I will contact the necessary person/persons and assist them in alleviating the problem if I cannot accomplish this myself. Further, I also assist the network and system administration teams with monitoring the network and data feeds. This is done by coordinating the resolutions to the network when problems persist through them into different Unix boxes that check whether data is being processed. This is also done by routine checks on different network servers and routers as scheduled by the network administrator. Finally, I will aid customers in accessing their personal information if it is through FTP or the dial up network. Other duties include desk side support of the Weather Channel employees, assisting with any technical problems that arise, and installing and configuring notebooks and desktop computers with the proper software. We used the Oracle database to maintain and to keep track of all incoming calls to the solution center. All software and hardware issues that came into the solutions center were used to build the knowledge database. The knowledge database was then used to keep track of who called in and what problem they had for future use. We also used it to keep account of all computers, printers, laptops, palm pilots and other equipment issued to the employees at the Weather Channel. We did all necessary setups, configurations, and any necessary troubleshooting to the Oracle database for the Weather Channel and its employees.
